ARMED SERVICES DOGS GET PROTECTIVE "ARMOR"

Recognizing the great value of their working dogs, the U.S. armed forces are now providing "state of the art Kevlar vests" for their working dogs -- including those trained as partrol dogs, bomb-sniffing dogs and more.  These dogs complete hundreds of hours of training in order to serve in the military.

Some K-9 units in the States also are issuing the armor for their dogs that do work guarding base entrances and civilian airports or accompanying Secret Service missions.
