We surpassed 1,000 dog pages indexed on January 16,
1999, with 100 breeds included. We reached 2,275 pages indexed on March 4, 1999,
with 160 breeds. By June 6, 1999, we had 3,735 pages covering 235 breeds. We passed
the 5,000 mark on August 3, 1999, with 270 breeds, including many rare ones. By
October 1, 1999, we passed the big 6,000 dog pages mark. Thanks, everyone!
Reaching this goal of 6,000
top dog web sites and pages indexed makes our ODP dog database bigger than the
Mammals:Dogs and Business:Dogs categories combined at Yahoo! [Note: At this update in June 2002, there are 15,715 dog sites and Web pages in
the ODP Dogs database. Wow!]
To help us continue building
the Dogs section, please submit your dog-oriented pages right into the categories the
other editors and I have developed -- we'll review them as soon as possible. Or
write to any of us and suggest a new category. Or sign on to edit a breed or
other dog subsection yourself -- it's easy and fun.
And why not add a link to the
Dogs Section on your Web
page? You can also spread the word about ODP to others who love dogs and would like
to see their canine web site included.
I was delighted to have been
accepted as the first editor for the Dogs section of this unique Web search site, now
owned by Netscape. A long-time member of The Dog Writers Association of America,
I've written about Siberian Huskies and sled dog racing for 30 years.

My husband Rick
raced Siberian Huskies competitively for many years and we have published books and The Racing Siberian Husky newsletter, read
around the world. I created WorkingDogWeb in 1997 as a in-depth source of online
information useful to all who breed, train and work their dogs. For more on us, check here. For more on our books and the RSH newsletter, check here. Or visit WorkingDogWeb --
for info and fun!
